Ellicott City, MD - An unforgettable day for Howard during their strike out cancer game, after not only surpassing their fundraising goal, but also securing a win against the Riverhawks of Anne Arundel Community College 13-5.
Trailing 3-0, the Dragons were able to put runs on the board in the bottom of the fourth, made possible by a two-run single from
Micah Howell (Columbia, MD/Atholton). Roaring and ready to contribute, six out of nine starters for Howard reached home plate safely on multiple occasions, opening up a 9-3 lead. The fifth inning remained scoreless, but the Riverhawks sought to climb the ladder heading into the sixith, adding two runs on the board to make it a 9-5 game.
Heading into the bottom of the sixth, Wisor looked to silence the noise taking a monster swing to left field, where the ball pops up on the gate and flies over the fence for three-run, homerun. A final run for the Dragons in the sixth was scored by Howell, after
Holly Ryan (Elkridge, MD/Long Reach) singled to left field, thus the run-rule being applied and solidifying the Dragons 13-5 win.
Wisor took the win in the circle for Howard, giving up 5 runs on six hits, allowing no walks, and seven strike outs. Wisor also tallied up four RBIs to help the Dragons fly past the Riverhawks.
Alyssa Kelly (Laurel, MD/Reservoir),
Madeline Lackey (Manchester, MD/Manchester Valley), and Howell finished with two RBIs each, and
Taylor Pence (Mt. Airy, MD/Glenelg), Reagan Perkes, and Ryan completed the game with one RBI.
The Dragons look ahead to host the Seahawks of Cecil College on Monday, April 22, for a double header matchup set to begin at 3PM.
