Columbia, MD - For the second straight game, the Howard Community College Dragons took care of business with a 92-56 lopsided win over the Community College of Beaver County Titans.
Howard knocked down a season-high eleven threes, out-rebounded the Titans 40-29 and shot 52.3% from the floor. Howard's win marked their ninth straight win and moved them into second-place in Region 20 Division II.
The Dragons quickly jumped out to a 23-4 lead over the Titans in the opening seven minutes.
Anthony Djami (Paris, France/Brequigny) dominated the Titans in the paint with six rebounds and 13 points, and the Dragons hit seven three-pointers. Two of those shots came from
Jaden Johnson (Upper Marlboro, MD/Dr. Henry A. Wise), who was everywhere in the opening minutes. Howard emptied the bench late in the period up 20, taking a 50-24 lead into the half.
Howard's bench took control of the game, with 37 of their points coming from there. The Dragons only managed four three-pointers in the half, but made up for it by shooting brilliantly from the floor. All but three Dragons scored in the half as Howard's lead ballooned to 39 points. Savion Gowder (Alexandria, VA/West Potomac) put the finishing touch on the Dragons 92-56 victory.
Anthony Djami (Paris, France/Brequigny) finished the contest with 15 points, eight rebounds, two assists, and two blocks.
Christian Dean (Elkridge, MD/Long Reach) had an excellent game with 15 points, seven rebounds, two assists, and two steals.
Jaden Johnson (Upper Marlboro, MD/Dr. Henry A. Wise) added 13 points and six assists, while Arthur Roaché notched eleven points and seven rebounds.
Sincere Barfield (Baltimore, MD/Patterson) added ten points off the bench along with four assists and six steals.
Truth Norton (Columbia, MD/Oakland Mills) continued to produce in his new starting role, adding nine points and four assists.Â
