Columbia MD - The final week of the regular season saw the Howard Community College women's team close out its season with a pair of lopsided losses.
The Dragons fell 10-0 on the road to the Harford Community College FIghting Owls on Tuesday, then ended their campaign with a 12-0 loss to CCBC Essex on Thursday.
The Dragons gave up nine first half goals to the Fighting Owls in Tuesday's contests, before finally clamping down on defense in the second half. Goalie
Bella Buscher (Glenelg, MD/Glenelg) made seven saves against the Division I powerhouse, while
Kaily Ok (Hanover, MD/Marriotts Ridge) added two shots and one shot on goal.
Thursday's season finale saw the Dragons come out strong, with
Kaily Ok (Hanover, MD/Marriotts Ridge) narrowly missing several first half shots. Buscher continued to look great in net, recording 12 saves in the first half alone. Essex took a 4-0 lead entering the second half, which saw the Dragons make a goalie change to give Buscher some playing time in the field. She narrowly missed a shot seconds into the half, while the Knights added eight more goals to take a 12-0 victory.
Howard's pair of losses dropped the Dragons to 0-13-0 on the season, their worst record and first winless season in the modern era of record keeping.
Kaily Ok (Hanover, MD/Marriotts Ridge) finished the season as the team's leader in goals, points, and shots. Buscher led the team in saves and goals against average, while
Lamees Bazzi (Ellicott City, MD/Marriotts Ridge)Â finished the campaign as the Dragons leader in save percentage.
Howard will say goodbye to five sophomores in the offseason, with
Bella Buscher (Glenelg, MD/Glenelg),
Kaily Ok (Hanover, MD/Marriotts Ridge),
Abi Aguilar (Beltsville, MD/High Point),
Alexis Smithson (Highland, MD/River Hill), and
Gabbie Taylor (Sykesville, MD/Atholton) playing in their final games for the Dragons on Thursday. The Dragons now look to 2026, with plans to shake off the winless season and return to the top of Region 20 for the coming year.
