Dragons Conclude Regular Season with Lopsided Loss to Nassau

Garden City, NY - The Howard Community College Dragons men's lacrosse team wrapped up their regular season with a 22-7 loss to Nassau Community College on Sunday.

Facing the #2 ranked team in the country, the Dragons struggled to score and struggled to stop Nassau's attackers. The loss marks the most lopsided loss of the season for the Dragons, who finish 2025 with a 5-6 overall record.

Howard fell into a 3-0 hole early and was never able to recover, with John Stubbs' (Catonsville, MD/Boys Latin) early goal their only points for much of the first quarter. Late in the quarter, Stubbs scored his second goal of the game, and Luke Briggs (Windermire, FL/Windermire) knocked one in to make it 8-3.

Stubbs recorded his third goal of the contest midway through the second quarter, but by this point Nassau led 12-4. William Pesce (Derwood, MD/Col. Zadok Magruder) added a score as the Dragons ended the fist half down 15-5. Stubbs would score early in the third to give the Dragons some life, and Cyrus Frid-Denikos (Elkridge, MD/Howard) added another goal late in the period, but by then Nassau was up nearly 20 goals. Neither team would score in the fourth to close out the contest.

Stubbs finished the evening with four goals on eight shots with three ground balls and three caused turnovers. Logan Foust (Ellicott City, MD/Mt. Hebron) recorded three assists and three shots, while William Pesce (Derwood, MD/Col. Zadok Magruder) had one goal on ten shots. Jason Dean (Bristow, VA/Brentsville District) led the Dragons with four ground balls, while Jack Feys (Poolesville, MD/Poolesville) recorded three ground balls and three caused turnovers. Aidan Ro (Ellicott City, MD/Marriotts Ridge) went 10-27 on faceoffs, while Lewis Collora (Columbia, MD/Wilde Lake) and Jason Dean (Bristow, VA/Brentsville District) recorded ten total saves.

The Dragons will head home for the Region 20 tournament in two weeks time, with their semifinal game scheduled for Friday, April 25.
