Columbia, MD - Behind four goals apiece from Logan Foust (Ellicott City, MD/Mt. Hebron) and Cyrus Frid-Denikos (Elkridge, MD/Howard), the Howard Community College Dragons took their fourth win of the season last Saturday in a 12-11 win over Anne Arundel Community College.

The Dragons evened up their record with a clutch performance, holding off a furious Anne Arundel comeback in the final minutes. Foust's last-second caused turnover sealed the win for the Dragons, moving them into second place overall in Region 20!

Howard kicked off the contest with a bang, scoring just 29 seconds into the contest off a Logan Foust (Ellicott City, MD/Mt. Hebron) goal. Howard flexed their muscles on the Riverhawks in the opening period, scoring four more times off a pair of Cyrus Frid-Denikos (Elkridge, MD/Howard) shots, a William Pesce (Derwood, MD/Col. Zadok Magruder) goal, and a Caiden Hawlk (Dover, DE/Red Lion) shot from near midfield. Howard led comfortably 5-2 at the end of the first period.

Anne Arundel began to close the gap in the second quarter, scoring thrice off the back of their attacking pair of Tyson Miller and Sahil Lengade. Howard's only response was a Cyrus Frid-Denikos (Elkridge, MD/Howard) goal that kept the Dragons ahead by one entering the half. Pesce's second goal of the contest made it a two-goal game early in the third, but Anne Arundel scored twice to tie the game up. Logan Foust (Ellicott City, MD/Mt. Hebron) responded with a pair of goals to retake the lead, and seconds later John Stubbs (Catonsville, MD/Boys Latin) scored his first goal of the game to make it 10-7 after three.

Foust made it four goals on the day early in the fourth to keep Howard way ahead, but the Riverhawks slowly edged back into the contest. Anne Arundel got back within two before Frid-Denikos hit his fourth goal of the game. Another pair of Riverhawk goals with seconds left made it 12-11, and Anne Arundel kept the momentum with another faceoff win. But a massive slash from Foust jarred the ball loose seconds after the faceoff, giving Howard possession and the closest of victories. The 12-11 win also gave Howard a season sweep of the Riverhawks.

Foust finished the afternoon with four goals on eleven shots, while Frid-Denikos added four goals on ten shots. Pesce scored twice on eleven shots, while Stubbs added one goal, one assist, and ten shots. Mason Ambrose (Eldersburg, MD/Liberty) added two assists, while Aidan Ro (Ellicott City, MD/Marriotts Ridge) led the team with eleven ground balls and 14 faceoff wins out of 24 faceoffs. Mitchell Dua (Mount Airy, MD/Loyola Blakefield) and Jack Feys (Poolesville, MD/Poolesville) each caused two turnovers, while Lewis Collora (Columbia, MD/Wilde Lake) made 18 saves.

The Dragons wrap up their home schedule on Wednesday as they face the Harford Community College Fighting Owls at 4:00 PM.
