Salisbury, MD - Howard Community College's cross country team completed their regular season on Saturday with a strong showing at the Don Cathcart Invitational.
Facing strong four-year competition and several Region 20 opponents, the Dragons put together solid individual efforts. Six Dragons scored personal best results, two Dragons cracked the top-50 in their races, and both men's and women's teams finished in the top ten of teams competing.
The women's 6k race kicked off the proceedings Saturday, with Howard's
Savannah Wilson leading the charge. Wilson finished 49th overall and set a personal best with a time of 27:04.8.
Katy Spence finished second for the Dragons with a 34:16.9, while
Nyla Mathew and
Cynthia Crump both scored personal bests with times of 37:00.04 and 41:36.6 respectively.
Jahyra Jackson rounded out the race for the Dragons with a time of 42:41.0.
The men's 8k race belonged to
Samuel Venegas, who finished 42nd overall and set a personal best with a time of 28:12.9.
Nico Salvia finished just outside the top-50 with a time of 30:08.9, a personal best for himself.
Gabriel Kondeh was third for Howard with a time of 35:22.3, setting a personal best as well.
Samuel Chukwuma completed the Dragons quartet with a time of 37:39.9.
Howard will wrap up the season on Halloween with the NJCAA Region 20 Regional Meet.
