#11 Dragons Dominate Hawks for Tenth Win

La Plata, MD - Seven different players scored as the Howard Community College Dragons won comfortably over the College of Southern Maryland Hawks 8-0 Tuesday evening.

Howard out-shot the Hawks 52-1 en route to a mercy-rule victory, recording 13 corners kicks to zero for the Hawks. The win moves the Dragons to 10-1-2 on the season.

The Dragons would strike first as a corner kick from Yeabsira Tesfaye was converted into a header goal for Daniel Barrett in the 15th minute. Biruk Yitayew added a second goal late in the half off a pass from Nicholas Mirecki to make it 2-0 in the 39th. Tesfaye would complete the half with a goal off a pass from Kiar Sani in the 43rd minute to make it 3-0.

The second half was a tough and gritty battle, with ten total fouls committed between the two teams. Yitayew continued the onslaught with his second goal in the 50th minute off a Tesfaye pass. Gabriel Alejandro Vasquez added his second goal of the season off a perfect pass from Sani to make it 5-0 in the 57th, and Nelson Hernandez added a sixth goal in the 69th minute. Carson Feeser, who exited the game earlier with an injury, returned to action and immediately scored in the 75th minute off a pass from Alonso Aguilar. Sani then wrapped up the scoring explosion in the final minutes with his lone goal of the day.

14 different Dragons recorded at least one shot, a new record for the season. Feeser and Tesfaye put up identical stats with eight shots, six shots on goal, one goal, and two assists each. Hernandez had seven shots, six shots on goal, and a goal. Lucas Britos added six shots and four shots on goal, while Jackson Costell and Ilia Likakis each had four shots. Sani added two shots, a goal, and two assists. Alejandro Dealvarez had a quiet game in net, needing to make only a single save late in the contest.

The Dragons will next take to the field on Thursday, October 8 at 5:00 PM against WVU Potomac State College.
