#5 Dragons Kick Off Season with Explosive Performance!

Columbia, MD - After being ranked #5 in the preseason rankings, the Howard Community College Lacrosse team delivered a statement performance to open their season on a cold Wednesday afternoon in Columbia, overwhelming Williamson College of the Trades in a commanding 19–2 victory.

From the opening face-off, Howard set the tone. The Dragons controlled possession early, moving the ball with precision and patience. Within the first few minutes, Howard found the back of the net as Quinn Brennan (Kingsville, ON/Kingsville District) scored the first goal of the Dragons' season. Brennan finished with two goals, and was one of ten players to score for Howard.

By the end of the first quarter, Howard had built a comfortable 5-1 lead, capitalizing on fast breaks and forcing turnovers in the midfield. The defensive unit was equally dominant, applying relentless pressure throughout the entire match.

The second and third quarters showcased Howard's depth. Substitutions didn't slow the tempo, as fresh legs extended the advantage. Logan Foust (Ellicott City, MD/Mt. Hebron) led the team in goals, shooting through four while totaling three assists. William Pesce (Derwood, MD/Col. Zadok Magruder) scored three goals along with Lukas Rozon (Ottawa, ON/Citadelle), who led the team in assists with three, contributing to that explosive offense. Howard's composure and discipline prevented any sustained comeback attempt.

By the fourth quarter, the outcome was firmly decided, yet Howard continued to play with intensity and unselfishness. John Stubbs (Catonsville, MD/Boys Latin) was another Dragon earning two goals. This was just a dominant performance as Howard cruised to victory with little to no resistance. The victory not only boosted Howard's confidence but also sent a clear message about their ambitions for the season.

The Dragons play again at home on March 4 against #1 Harford Community College at 4:00PM.
