Howard Community College

Taariq Cephas was hired as the associate head coach of the women's basketball program in April 2026.

Taariq comes to Howard CC after spending the previous two seasons as the associate head coach for boys basketball at Ron Brown College Prep in the District of Columbia.  At Ron Brown, Cephas helped the Monarchs achieve double digit wins back to back years and the most wins in school history this past season.  The Monarchs also received their first DCIAA playoff bid since COVID. 

Prior to coaching boys high school, Cephas spent one season at his alma mater, Coppin State University coaching women. There Cephas was responsible for scouting reports, recruiting, and player development. Cephas helped develop point guard Angel Jones who eared second team all MEAC honors as a sophomore. Jones would later go on to play for Pitt University. 

Prior to Coaching at Coppin State, Cephas spent four seasons as the Associate Head Coach at CCBC Essex from 2019-2023.
