Jake Achten

Jake Achten was named as the Dragons head coach for women's volleyball in April 2019.

Achten came to the Dragons after coaching six years with the Chaos 18 volleyball club for the Montgomery Village Sports Association where they recently won the Chesapeake Region tournament to earn a place in the 18's National Championship. He has also been an assistant coach for the 15-2 Starz team since 2008.

During this time Achten held a number of other coaching positions, including work with Hood College as an assistant coach and scout. He served as the head coach of Sherwood High School varsity head coach for both the girls and boys teams for two seasons. Before that he was the head coach of the Seneca Valley High School volleyball teams for three seasons while also providing personal coaching lessons for the last eight years.

His coaching accomplishments include three club East Coast Championships, a Maryland high school state final and semi-final appearances,  and three regional championships. He was named a USA Volleyball High Performance Coach in 2018.

Achten played for three years at Quince Orchard High School in Gaithersburg, MD where he served as a captain in his senior season while also playing eight years of club volleyball. He earned a BS in Sports Management in 2017 and is certified in Impact and Safe Sport accreditations.
