Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Dragons Win 13th Straight, Beat CCBC Catonsville 4-0

The Howard Community College women's soccer program concluded regular season play with a convincing 4-0 victory of Maryland Junior College Conference foe CCBC Catonsville. The Dragons came into the game riding a 12-game winning streak and fresh off an MD JUCO championship clinching win over Harford Community College on Thursday. In their final game of the regular season, the Dragons were able to finish strong and send the sophomores out in style.

In the first half CCBC came out fighting hard against the Dragons with some high pressing and a couple of threatening shots on goal. Despite the early pressure, it was Dragon midfielder
Brittany Nixon (Columbia, MD, Oakland Mills HS) who got the Dragons on the score board in the 22nd minute on a great assist from Nikki Manning (Sykesville, MD, South Carroll HS) and the Dragons never looked back. In the 29th minute of action, the Dragons added some insurance with a dribble-in goal by Jen Craven (Damascus, MD, Damascus HS) off a great cross by Elisa Mobley (Dayton, MD, Glenelg HS).

Going into the second half with a 2-0 lead, the game quickly became the
Audrey Ford (Woodbine, MD, Glenelg HS) show. Ford's first goal came in the 57th minute as she was found open just outside the box by a Sydney Rynn-Mason (Columbia, MD, Pallotti HS) pass and she powered a shot past the Cardinals keeper. The final goal of the game came in the 69th minute as Craven made a bombing run into the box then dropped it back for Ford who once again hit a powerful shot into the back-netting for her 5th of the season.

With the win, the Dragons conclude regular season play and increase their winning streak to 13 games. The Dragons will return to action on Thursday October 29th in the MD JUCO Region XX tournament which will take place at Anne Arundel Community College. HCC will face conference rival Montgomery College in a semi-final match that repeats last year's controversial end to the Dragons season as the Raptors won 1-0 on a goal that clearly should not have counted. This year, the Dragons beat MC 5-1 in their regular season match on September 8th in a game that was dominated by HCC.
