Women's Soccer Loses on Own Goal

The Dragons Women's Soccer team finished the Cape Fear Invitational 1-1 as they fell to Oxford College of Emory University 1-0.

HCC out shot Oxford College 7-4, but only one of those shots forced a save from the opposing goalkeeper. 

The only goal of the game came off a corner kick that deflected off the heel of Sydney Rynn-Mason (Columbia, MD, Pallotti HS) and slipped past the HCC goalkeeper. The own goal for Rynn-Mason comes a day after she picked up the assist on the game-winning goal against Cape Fear CC.

Darcey Bodziony (Columbia, MD, Athloton HS) picked up three saves on the day and Sophomore Becky Manelli (Woodstock, MD, Westminster HS) led the Dragons with three shots on the day.

Howard CC next plays at home against rival Anne Arundel CC Wednesday September 2nd at 4:00 PM. The game will mark the first conference game of the season for the Dragons as they hope to win their first conference title since 2006.
