Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Powerhouse Harford Defeats Dragons 91-51

The Dragons went up against an incredibly dominant Harford CC women's basketball team losing 91-51. The Dragons are now 10-5 on the year and 4-4 in conference which drops them to 7th in the conference.

Harford's Fighting Owls came into the game with a 16-2 record and 7-0 in conference as they have been demolishing every school in the conference this year. In fact, the Dragons are just the second team in the conference to hold Harford under 100 points this season as they have been averaging over the century mark per game for the season while averaging just under 50 points allowed per game.

Howard CC had not been on the court for 7 straight days thanks to the snow storms, but came out with a lot of energy to start the game as they jumped out to an astonishing 11-4 lead in the first 6 minutes of the game forcing the Harford coach to call a timeout to regroup his squad. After that, the Fighting Owls went on an 18-0 run and never looked back; especially when they out-rebounded the Dragons 63-17.

The Dragons were led by Rebeka Coughlin (Sykesville, MD, Liberty HS) who despite being in foul trouble for much of the game finished with 18 points and 7 assists. Ebony Anderson (Baltimore, MD, Catonsville HS) was the only other Dragon to hit double-digit points as she added 10 while the recently hot-shooting Sam Heisig (Glenelg, MD, Glenelg HS) cooled off with a 3-16 performance from the field while still contributing 9 points and 6 steals.

HCC will be forced into double duty this weekend thanks to the snow storms postponing a pair of games. They first play against CCBC Catonsville on Saturday January 31st at home with a 3 PM tip-off time before traveling to Montgomery College on Sunday to face the Raptors at 2 PM.
