Thompson and Heisig Pace Dragons Past CCBC Catonsville

Lauren Thompson (Columbia, MD, Oakland Mills HS) came out firing with 14 points and finished the game with 20 as she helped the Dragons defeat CCBC Catonsville 80-57. The victory puts HCC at 11-5 for the year as they rebounded nicely from their defeat on Thursday night.

HCC had perhaps their most dominating performance of the season as they outshot their opponents 53% to 32%, outrebounded them 38-28, and forced 25 turnovers which lead to 33 points. In addition, the Dragons lived in the paint as 38 of their 80 points were scored there.

In addition to Thompson's fine performance, Sam Heisig (Glenelg, MD, Glenelg HS) added 20 points and 8 assists along with 3 blocks and 6 rebounds. Rebeka Coughlin (Sykesville, MD, Liberty HS) provided an unusual stat line with 11 rebounds, 10 assists, and 6 steals but just 6 points on the night.

Lis Parks (Columbia, MD, St. Johns HS) had her most productive offensive game of the season with 14 points on 6-11 shooting and Knowlej Thomas (Columbia, MD, Mt. Hebron HS) provided a spark off the bench with 12 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 assists. Ebony Anderson (Baltimore, MD, Catonsville HS) was well on her way to another great game before getting in foul trouble and ultimately fouled out with 8 points and 8 rebounds on the night.

The Dragons have a quick turnaround as they will travel to Montgomery College tomorrow at 2 PM in a critical MD JUCO matchup.
