Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Seahawks Dominant First Half Downs Dragons

The Howard CC men's basketball were completely dominated in the first half as Cecil College went on to win the contest 112-101. The loss brings the Dragons record to 4-19 and 1-12 in the conference.

The first 10 minutes of the game saw Cecil College go through an incredible stretch of making shots at a prodigious rate with 42 points being scored on their way to shooting 63% from the field in the first half in a 71 point onslaught for the Seahawks.

During that first half, the only thing to save the home squad from being completely blown out was Juwan Grant (Baltimore, MD, Baltimore City HS) who went 4-6 from behind the arc on his way to a 14 point half for the man that was celebrated before the game for sophomore night. His fellow sophomore Terrell Willis (Washington D.C., Chapel Gate Christian) was aggressive off the bench to add 11 points in the half and finished with 19 on the game.

In the second half, the Dragons were a much more cohesive side as they held the Seahawks to just 41 points and were able to make 7 from three point range and 13 free throws as Cecil College was called for 17 second half fouls. John Grant Jr. (Baltimore, MD, Baltimore City HS) took control of the second half with 18 points in the second stanza and Nathan Bonsu (Silver Spring, MD, James Hubert Blake HS) added 9 in the eight minutes he played.

The twin towers were the stars of the game for the last time in the Dragons Lair as they both scored 27 points in the game while only John Grant was able to get a double-double as he added 10 rebounds with Juwan only gathering in 6 boards. Bonsu finished with his career high 17 points in the game and Willis also set a career high with 19 points. Kyle Davis (Washington D.C., Wakefield HS) ensured that he will finish the season as the conference's most prolific provider with 9 assists as well as 4 steals on the day.

HCC will mercifully end their season on Monday February 8th as they close the season out at Prince George's CC; tip-off is scheduled for 7 PM.
