The women's soccer team enjoyed thrilling victories against Nassau and FIT in the dragon invitational. The team displayed great offensive play in both contests en route to respective wins of 4-3 and 3-0.
In their match against Nassau, sophomore forward and midfielder Lydia White (Columbia, MD/Cedar Brook Academy) scored a hat trick with goals in the 2nd, 52nd, and 64th minute. However, the Dragons conceded goals in the 68th and 75th minute on defensive miscues and allowed the Lions to get back in the game.
In their matchup against FIT, the Dragons raced out to an early 1-0 lead on a goal from sophomore Kaitlyn McDaniel (Westminster, MD./Westminster) in the 3rd minute and never looked back. In the 59th minute, White scored her fourth goal of the tournament on an assist from freshman Nikki Viera (Brazil).
Regarding her performance in the tournament, White said "It was a hard game but my team needed goals...It was really a team effort because I couldn't have done any of it without the great balls from my teammates".
Lydia now has 5 goals on the season and will look to keep the momentum going as the 5-1 [2-1] Dragons look to win their third straight game when they face Harford Community College on September 19th in Bel Air, MD.
