Columbia, MD - A gutsy performance by the lone Dragons' sophomore
Jordan Reid (Silver Spring, MD/Albert Einstein) was not enough to come from behind against a strong Nassau team as the Lions won 87-80. Cheyenne Nettleton scored 31 points for the Lions as the Dragons struggled to find an answer to stop the 5-9 sophomore guard.
The Dragons struggled in the first half to the tune of a 40% field goal percentage and 12 turnovers leading to a seven point deficit at halftime.
Reid put the team on his back in the second half, scoring 15 of his 24 points in the stanza including some highlight worthy jumpers under tough pressure.
Howard came all the way back to take the lead at 80-78 thanks to a couple of
Jesse Calloway (Lynchburg, VA/Heritage) free throws, but back-to-back turnovers by
Amar Shivers (Washington, DC/Central) and Calloway put the game out of reach for the Dragons.
Deven Richmond (Bear, DE/DeMatha) scored 14 points in just 17 minutes of play as he picked up a technical foul early in the second half and was not on the court the rest of the game. Calloway added 10 points with Shivers contributing nine points and eight rebounds.
The Dragons will start a six game stretch of games on the road to close out November starting with a conference match at Frederick on Wednesday, November 14 at 7 PM.
