Columbia, MD – The big three came through for the Dragons as Howard routed Camden County 63-34 thanks to
Shanta Johnson (Upper Marlboro, MD/Suitland),
Mia McCormick (Philadelphia, PA/River Hill), and
Sabreen Muslim (Baltimore, Md./Baltimore City College) combining to score 57 points for the hosts.
Howard got off to a roaring start, scoring the first 11 points of the game before Camden County was able to score their first point after six and a half minutes of play. Johnson closed out the first quarter with a buzzer beater three pointer on her way to an 18 point performance and Howard took a 16-6 lead after the first 10 minutes of play.
Turnovers were problematic for both sides as the game slowed down to a grinding halt, but the Dragons were able to take a 24-16 lead into the halftime break.
The Dragons regained their momentum out of the gates in the second half, going on a 14-2 run with Muslim taking over the game with nine of those 14 as she finished with 19 points and 13 rebounds for her 12
th double-double in 13 games.
McCormick found herself in early foul trouble, but still managed a fantastic 20 point game with nine rebounds as well while
Cassandra Padellford (Truckee, CA/Truckee) grabbed 10 rebounds.
Howard will get a much needed rest for the winter break before getting back at it on Saturday, January 5 as they host Allegany at 1 PM.
