Fresh off a season that saw them win the Region 20 Division III championship and earn a bid to the NJCAA National Tournament, the Dragons kicked off their season with back to back games against tough New Jersey opponents.
Howard's season started with a 2-1 overtime loss at Rowan College of Burlington County as an opening goal by
Anderson Mejia Marroquin (Elkridge, MD/Hammond) in the 26th minute was evened out just after halftime. The game went into an extra period where the Barons were able to score five minutes into overtime to seal the victory. Marroquin,
Eze Ruben (Laurel, MD/Laurel) and Anthony Perez Rodriquez each managed a trio of shot in the game while goalkeepers
Simon Bradford (Columbia, MD/Hammond) and
Kevin Villalta (Silver Spring, MD/Springbrook) split time in between the pipes and each managed four saves.
The Dragons traveled the next day to Deptford, NJ where they took on Rowan-Gloucester in a high scoring game. Howard took the early lead on a
Bryce Waller (Clarksville, MD/River Hill) penalty kick. Marroquin doubled the lead in the first half for his second of the year before the Roadrunners were able to pull one back on the other side of the halftime break.
Howard regained their two goal lead just three minutes later on an own goal before
