Columbia, MD - With the Dragons volleyball team being announced for club status in 2018, the tri-match involving Howard, Butler County and Anne Arundel provided a trio of close matches.
In the first match of the day, Butler was able to win in straight sets despite the Dragons being competitive in all three of the games.
Mumbi Murugi-Kamau (Columbia, MD/Wilde Lake) enjoyed her first match of the season with 10 kills and a couple of blocks while
Sydney Tucker () added three kills and five aces.
After Butler swept Anne Arundel, it was the Dragons turn to play the Riverhawks and the guests were able to pull out the first two sets in a tightly contested match. Howard turned things around in the third set and went on to come from behind and won the last three sets to take the match for their first victory of the year.
Murugi-Kamau was unstoppable with 20 kills in the match while Tucker had 12 and
Sacha Radelet (Chaumont, Belgium/Lycu Marin V)Â added five.
Elizabeth Quintin (Columbia, MD/Oakland Mills) scored a couple of blocks while
Jasmyn Bumbray (Ellicott City, MD/Centennial) earned 20 digs along with 32 assists in the match,
The Dragons will next host Allegany on Tuesday, September 11 at 7 PM.
