Columbia, MD – The Dragons secured their third straight conference victory to start the season as Howard dominated the Cecil Seahawks 9-1.
It took just 83 seconds of play for the Dragons to get on the board as a
Nikki Vieira (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Colégio Adventista) pass across the goal found
Hailey Montoya (Redlands, CA/Redlands East Valley) wide open on the back post for an easy finish.
From there the Dragons just took over the game as
Emily Delaney (Catonsville, MD/Catonsville) knocked one if from long range,
Ellen Campbell (Highland, MD/Reservoir) scored twice from inside the box in the first half while
Kylie Toler (Fulton, MD/Reservoir) and
Rylee Nieman (Mt. Airy, MD/South Carroll) also scored in the opening stanza.
In the second half,
Rana Yalcin (Istanbul, Turkey/Bure Anatolia) scored her first collegiate goal while
Grace Pritchett (Dayton, MD/Linganore) and
Maddie Reeser (Sykesville, MD/Century) added second half goals to complete the rout.
Howard outshot Cecil 47-2 in the contest with the Seahawks scoring on one of their two attempts on goal.
Up next the Dragons will host another conference foe as the College of Southern Maryland will come to town on Tuesday, September 25 for a 4 PM matinee. The Southern Maryland Hawks are 2-1 on the year with wins against Patrick Henry and Cecil as well as a loss to Mercer County.
