Columbia, MD – The Dragons women's basketall team honored their sophomore class in their final home game of the season, but were unable to pull out a win as they fell to Anne Arundel 65-53
Sabreen Muslim (Baltimore, Md./Baltimore City College) worked her magic in the first quarter as she was taking over the paint as usual, but picked up two early fouls and was relegated to the bench for much of the first half.
The Riverhawks came into the game with just five players dressed, but all five had a big impacts in the game as Anne Arundel took a 39-19 lead into halftime.
The Dragons found a much needed spark in the left hand of
Ashlyn McInerney (Hyattsville, MD/Hammond) as she hit three straights long range shots late in the third quarter on her way to a 17 point night off the bench. That 11-0 run closed the deficit to 48-37, but the Riverhawks answered back with a 7-0 run to put the game out of reach for Howard.
Muslim finished with 23 points and 10 rebounds as her incredible streak continues of recording double-doubles in 19 of the 20 games this season.
Howard will next travel to Hagerstown on Wednesday, February 6 for a crucial game for the Dragons hopes of earning a spot in postseason play.
