Hagerstown, MD - Another strong game from star center
Sabreen Muslim (Baltimore, Md./Baltimore City College) was not enough as the Dragons lost to a tough Hagerstown Hawks team by the score of 74-60.
Mia McCormick (Philadelphia, PA/River Hill) got the Dragons off strong with back-to-back layups to give Howard the early 4-0 lead. Both teams struggled to hit shots for the majority of the opening 10 minutes, but
Ashlyn McInerney (Hyattsville, MD/Hammond)Â splashed a three pointer to give the Dragons a 14-11 lead before the Hawks answered in kind to have the score all knotted up after the first quarter.
The teams traded barbs again through the second quarter with a big jump shot by
Zulekha Karachiwalla (Marriottsville, MD/Marriotts Ridge)Â to give Howard a 28-27 lead with a minute left, but the Hawks closed the half out on a 7-0 run.
Hagerstown kept Howard at an arms length for much of the second half, but Howard did get it back to a four point deficit as McInerney scored six of her 13 points in the fourth quarter.
Muslim finished with 31 points and 12 rebounds in yet another dominating performance for the sophomore star.
Howard will close out their regular season schedule as they travel to Garrett College on Sunday, February 10 for a 1 PM game.
