Columbia, MD - A thoroughly impressive performance by the Dragons saw them power past the Rowan Burlington Barons 109-64.
Deven Richmond (Bowie, MD/DeMatha) hit a three point shot five minutes into the game to give Howard a 10-8 lead which represented the last time the Dragons faced a deficit in the contest.Â
Six different Dragons scored double-digit points, led by Richmond with 16 and
Naquan Williams-Day (Columbia, MD/Oakland Mills) with 15.
Daeshawn Eaton (Columbia, MD/Oakland Mills) scored 14 while
DJ Tucker-Harry (Ellicott City, MD/Marriotts Ridge) added 11 points in just 12 minutes of play.
Howard played an entertaining style of basketball as they grew more comfortable in moving the ball around against the compact Barons zone defense. The efficient passing led to a combination of prolific scoring in the paint and open looks from long range as the Dragons punished the Barons for all of their mistakes.Â
With the game well in hand, Howard was able to show off their depth as 12 different players scored for the men in maroon with
Paris Young (Owings Mills, MD/Chapelgate) being the only Dragon to play and not score; although Young did excite the crowd with a huge block in the last minute of the game to close out the game in style.
Anthony Djami-Tchoula (Paris, France/Lycee)Â saw his first action of the season and scored six points in the paint.
The Dragons will face much stiffer competition next as they travel to Genesee Community College for a two-day invitational beginning with Monroe Community College on Saturday, November 16 at 4 PM.
