Dragons Fall to Lazers 21-11

Columbia, MD - A fast start by the national powerhouse Onondaga Lazers led them to overcoming the Dragons 21-11.

Onondaga scored the first eight goals of the game including a 6-0 first quarter as they dictated the pace of the game. Howard finally got on the board after 20 minutes of play as Jeremy Sforzo (Vail, CO/Battle Mountain) scored on a man-up oppurtunity.

After a couple more Onondaga goals, the Dragons made a run to end the first half as goals by Jake Pyke (Monrovia, MD/Urbana), Bobby Solomon (Fairfax, VA/Woodson) and Joseph Montesano (Edgewater, MD/Damascus) led Howard on a 3-0 run and make it a 10-4 deficit going into the break.

Unfortunately, half time appeared to kill the momentum for the Dragons as it was Onondaga who shot out of the gates with three unanswered goals.

Jackson Krasny (Hagerstown, MD/St. Maria Goretti) was able to stop the bleeding as Prosser and Montesano added goals late in the third quarter. Howard went on another run early in the fourth as Sforzo scored a goal and assisted on goals by Jack Watsic (Frederick, MD/Linganore) and Montesano to make it another 3-0 Dragons run before Onondaga answered with four goals in two minutes to seal the game.

Montesano scored four goals while Sforzo added two goals and six assists to lead the way for the Dragons, especially on an effective power play that saw Howard scored on 3-6 man-up chances. Goalkeeper Tim Russell (Catonsville, MD/Catonsville) came up with 11 saves in the contest while the defense was led by Tim Roesler (Carlisle, PA/Carlisle) with four ground balls and two caused turnovers.

The Dragons will look to rebound quickly as they travel to West Virginia for a 6 PM game against #10 ranked Potomac State on Wednesday, March 20 in a Regional showdown.
