Batavia, NY - Peet Poillon has been regularly thought of as one of the best Dragons of all-time, and now he will be known as one of the best Junior College players of all-time as he was inducted into the NJCAA Lacrosse Hall of Fame class of 2019.
Poillon played at Howard for two years from 2006-2007 annd accumulated 144 points during that time while earning First Team All-American honors in both seasons. He was a team captain in both years and was named the Md Juco Conference Offensive Player of the Year.
While Poillon was not able to attend the Hall of Fame induction ceremony, he did send a message along, "So honored to be recognized on behalf of my coaches and team mates for our amazing experience together. Wish I could be in attendance and apologize for my absence due to family obligations. Junior college is an underutilized tool for student athletes to grow as people and players. You are all very smart for making the decision to attend your respective institutions. Continue to set team and individual goals and prepare yourself for the next step in your life and lacrosse careers. Best of luck to the players this weekend. An incredible opportunity has presented itself, do your best to take advantage. My advice would be to focus on your individual jobs on the field and as a team mate in your execution, not the circumstances of the game. Some of my best individual performances were in the second half of games when I felt like I was playing terrible in specific moments. Don't dwell on mistakes this weekend, focus on a next play mentality and doing your best for your team. You will not play perfect but you can always focus on working as hard as you can and enjoying the moment. Congratulations on your success to this point. Special shout out to Howard and best of luck as you continue to push that program to new heights. Go Dragons."
After Howard, Poillon went on to play at Ohio State University and UMBC. An All-American at UMBC, he was also a Scholar All-American. Poillon played professionally for the Chesapeake Bayhawks of the Major Lacrosse League, where he was a four time MLL All-Star. Currently, Poillon serves as the Assistant Coach at Hobart College.
