Columbia, MD - The Dragons manhandled the Chesapeake Skipjacks in the first half and were able to ease their way to an important 89-68 regional win.
Michael Gray (Glendale, MD/Bowie), earning his first start of the season, rewarded Coach Smelkinson with a season high 21 points including a couple early game slam dunks as the Dragons jumped all over Chesapeake in a 48-18 first half.
Chesapeake attempted a comeback in the second half as they scored 50 in the final 20 minutes of play, but ultimately it proved to be too little too late.Â
Deven Richmond (Bowie, MD/DeMatha) scored 17 points as he was dangerous inside the paint as well as outside the arc as guards
Kelvin Sellman (Temple Hills, MD/Crossland) and
Daeshawn Eaton (Columbia, MD/Oakland Mills) combined to score 25 points with 12 assists while running the offense.
The Dragons will stay at home for another regional opponent as Northern Virginia comes to town on February 5 for a 7 PM tip off.
