Trenton, NJ - A weekend trip to New Jersey saw the Dragons go up against tough competition, losing to Sussex County 4-2 on Saturday before pulling out a double overtime win on Sunday against Mercer County.
In the opening game of the trip, the Dragons
Tahlia Stangherlin (Hamilton, Ontario/Pallotti) continued to heat up this season with two more goals. The first of her goals came from a
Molly Nichols (Mt. Airy, MD/Glenelg) assist with
Tessa Cinotti (Laurel, MD/Reservoir) providing the helper on the second. Nichols took a season high five shots in the game while goalkeeper
Hailey Murray (Catonsville, MD/Catonsville) saved a career high 24 in the game.
In the latter match, Howard CC was able to negate a 1-0 deficit when Stangherlin scored again to tie the game thanks to a
Lillian Scott (Catonsville, MD/Catonsville) assist. The game would go into double overtime where Stangherlin set up Scott for the golden goal to lift the Dragons over the Mercer County Vikings 2-1.
Murray once again was called to action in a big way, making 12 saves to earn the win.
The Dragons will have little time to rest as they prepare to host Montgomery College on Wednesday, October 13 at 4 PM.
