Dragons Blast Owls 7-1

Largo, MD - The Dragons traveled to Prince George's Community College for a dominating performance as they came away with a convincing 7-1 victory.
 
The continuous offensive efforts by the Dragons paid off early in the 6th minute as Dylan Portillo (Bladensburg, MD/El Salvador) was able to launch one into the Owls' goal, with the assist of Lenard Donor. In the 18th minute, Evan Doten (Costa Rica/River Hill) was able to secure his first goal of the game and 12th on the season with Portillo picking up the assist. In the 36th minute, Dwayne Kerr of Prince George's scored to halve the Howard lead. The Dragons continued to fight back as they put themselves in great positions to up their lead with numerous scoring chances, but the score remained 2-1 at halftime.
 
The Dragons stayed determined as ever and in the 55th minute, Doten found his way into the net off of a curling shot that was once again set up by Portillo, allowing Doten to secure his second goal of the game and number 13 on the season. The Dragons welcomed the previously injured Leonard Dunor (Fargo, ND/Sheyenne) back into the line-up after he missed three weeks of play, and was able score his fifth goal on the season.
 
It took just three minutes for the Dragons to really put the game out of reach as the 65th minute saw Doten send one to Didier Estrada (Hyattsville, MD/Northwestern), granting him the freedom to ascend a shot into the Owl's net for his second of the year. The Dragons piled on in the 76th minute when an assist by Emmanuel Pope (Jessup, MD/Hammond) allowed Brandon Ruano (Columbia, MD/Laurel) to find the net for the eighth time this season. With the energy remaining high, the Dragons scored yet again in the 87th minute as Jamoy Myers (Jamaica/Sunfire (FL)) scored his first goal of the season.
 
Howard out-shot the Owls 46-4 in the one-sided affair with Howard also taking 16 corner kicks compared to zero for Prince George's.
 
The Dragons will hit the road for a weekend trip to New Jersey starting with Sussex County on Saturday, October 9 and 2 PM.
