Philadelphia, PA - A near triple-double for sophomore sensation Daeshawn Eaton (Columbia, MD/Oakland Mills) led the Dragons to a commanding 79-59 victory in the season opener over the Community College of Philadelphia. 

Howard jumped out to a big lead early in the game, closing the first half with a 35-26 lead. The Lions narrowed that down to just two points early in the second half, but a huge surge by the Dragons gave them a comfortable margin of victory in the end.

Eaton scored 24 points along with 11 rebounds and six assists in a statement game to start his second campaign as a Dragon. Sophomore transfer David Garey (Gaithersburg, MD/Hargrave Military) dropped in 18 points off the bench while sophomore big man DJ Tucker (Ellicott City, MD/Marriotts Ridge) picked up a double-double from the bench with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Joel Webb (Upper Marlboro, MD/Dr. Henry A. Wise) started the season with a monster slam dunk from the tip-off and finished with 13 points and 13 rebounds while Cole Harshman (Baltimore, MD/Dulaney) hit a couple from long range to score 12 on the day as the fifth Dragon in double-digit scoring.

Howard CC will enjoy their first home game since March 8, 2020 when Hagerstown comes to the Dragons Lair on Wednesday, November 10 at 7 PM.
