University Center, MI - The Dragons led by 24 points at halftime and cruised to a second consecutive win to start the season as they defeated the Delta College Pioneers 84-65.
The Dragons came out aggressive from the opening tip-off as they attacked the rim throughout the first 20 minutes. Howard went 18-23 from the free throw line while also playing efficient basketball in forcing 15 turnovers in the first half and only conceding 4 in return.
In the second half,
David Garey (Gaithersburg, MD/Hargrave Military) caught fire as he scored all 15 points for the game in the second half including 3-5 from three point range to hold off the Pioneers. The Dragons shot 63% as a team in the second half and displayed a clinical approach to taking the victory.
Daeshawn Eaton (Columbia, MD/Oakland Mills) once again led the Dragons with 29 points while
Joel Webb (Upper Marlboro, MD/Dr. Henry A. Wise) picked up his second consecutive double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds.
Benjamin Murphy (Reisterstown, MD/Franklin) added 10 points as the fourth Dragon in double-digit scoring.Â
The Dragons will get right back at it on Sunday, November 7 at 2 PM when they take on the Wayne County Wildcats. The Wildcats come in with an 0-1 record after a thrilling 92-90 loss against Lansing College in the opening game of the Delta College Invitational.
