Philadelphia, PA -
Kori People (Washington, D.C./Central) scored 28 points in her Dragons debut to lead Howard past the Community College of Philadelphia 71-37. The win is the first official victory for head coach
Eryn Withers as the Dragons started their 2021-22 season out with a win.
Howard jumped all over the Lions, leading 19-4 after the first quarter in a dominating effort on both sides of the ball. While the Dragons defense let up a bit in the third quarter, Howard held CC of Philadelphia to single digit points in the other three quarters.
People was a scoring machine for the Dragons, as she went 10-16 from the floor including a 5-6 performance from behind the arc. She also chipped in six rebounds, five assists, and five steals.
Sarah Deese (Woodbine, MD/Century) and
Tajah Goodman (Washington, D.C./South Hagerstown) each made a couple of long range buckets with
Kalani Corkeron (Columbia, MD/Wilde Lake) scoring inside and out with seven points.
Madison Carey (Brandywine, MD/Frederick Douglass) led the Dragons with 12 rebounds including six offensive boards.
Lillyann Eldridge (Columbia, MD/Oakland Mills), the only returning player from the last Dragons team to play in 2019-20, added five points.
The Dragons will rest up for the rest of the week before traveling to Michigan to take on Delta College on Saturday, November 6 at 6 PM.
