Bel Air, MD - The Howard Dragons hit a couple of clutch late three pointers as they withstood a late charge to defeat the Harford Fighting Owls 79-66.
Howard shot 5-10 from three point range in the first half combined with conceding just six turnovers as the Dragons took a 10 point lead into halftime.Â
The Dragons kept their momentum going early in the second half as a hoop and harm by
David Garey (Gaithersburg, MD/Hargrave Military) gave Howard an 18 point lead. Harford started to chip away at the lead and made it a five point Howard lead before huge three pointers by
Hollique Johnson (Millersville, MD/Old Mill) and
Omar McGann (Waldorf, MD/St. Charles) put the final nails in the coffin.
Garey led the way with 20 points as he was a menace from inside and out.
Joel Webb (Forrestville, MD/Dr. Henry A. Wise) picked up his customary double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds while
Hollique Johnson (Millersville, MD/Old Mill)a and
Daeshawn Eaton (Columbia, MD/Oakland Mills) scored 12 and 11 points respectively. Fresh off his heroics against Delaware Tech,
Teylor Silverman (Baltimore, MD/Lansdowne) came back down to earth but still added eight points.
The Dragons will play their first regional divisional game of the season next as they travel far to the west to take on Garrett College on Thursday, December 2 at 7 PM.
