Bel Air, MD - A big fourth quarter by the Howard Dragons allowed them to push past the historically great Harford Fighting Owls 64-55.
Before an upset win for Howard in 2019, the Dragons had lost eight straight to a Harford program that had become a national powerhouse. The Dragons were able to pull off a second straight win as they used a combination of timely shooting and strong defense.
Madison Carey (Brandywine, MD/Frederick Douglass) was dominating on the post in the first quarter with seven of her 11 points coming in the opening period. Howard struggled to shoot in the second period and found themselves trailing at halftime by a single point.Â
Kori People (Washington, D.C./Central) grew her influence in the game more in the second half with a couple of big three pointers in the third quarter as she scored 16 points on the day.
Kayla Allen (Sykesville, MD/Liberty) scored seven of her 10 points in the fourth quarter as the Dragons blew past the Fighting Owls in the end. But it was
Lindsay Thweatt (Columbia, MD/St. John's Catholic) who once again showed up in a big way for the Dragons, scoring a game high 17 points along with six rebounds, five assists, and four steals.
The Dragons will play their first regional divisional game next as they travel west to Garrett College on Thursday, Decemeber 2 at 5 PM.
