New Rochelle, NY - The Dragons couldn't get a basket to fall for them as the Mustangs stalled the Howard momentum 62-40.
A rough first quarter saw Howard go 0-11 from the field along with six turnovers doomed the Dragons to just two points in the opening 10 minutes of play.
Madison Carey (Brandywine, MD/Frederick Douglass) finally broke that streak early in the second quarter on a tough layup and
Kayla Allen (Sykesville, MD/Liberty) knocked down a three pointer to bring the Dragons back within striking distance. However, another surge by Monroe extended their lead back to over 20 points where they maintained for the majority of the game.Â
Allen led the Dragons with 13 points including a trio of threes while
Kori People (Washington, D.C./Central) chipped in seven points; mostly from the free throw line.
India Young (Springdale, MD/Charles H. Flowerrs) scored a season high six points off the bench.
The Dragons will now get a prolonged hiatus as their next game is not until the new calendar year when they host CCBC Catonsville on Saturday, January 8 at 1 PM.
