Foley Selected As NJCAA Regional Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Ambassador

Charlotte, NC - Howard Community College Director of Athletics Erin Foley has been named as a Regional Ambassador to the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) in the Equity, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) Council.

Foley brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to an NJCAA council that is one of just three non-sport councils at the national office and is one of the core branches of the NJCAA. The NJCAA lists the mission of the EDI as, "To value diversity is to respect and appreciate its many dimensions including race, ethnicity, culture, age, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, ability, national origin, veteran status, social economic class, religion, and the perspective of each individual shaped by experiences, culture and nation. Equity ensures all members have access to the same opportunities to grow, contribute, and develop. To be inclusive is to welcome, value, and bring together the unique backgrounds of individuals to collectively and more effectively provide opportunities to grow for our campus communities and enhance excellence within the Association."

With experience as a coach, a certified athletic trainer, and years of experience as an athletic director at multiple levels of collegiate athletics, Foley is in a unique position to bring knowledge of the wide scope of athletics to the council. In addition to leading the Howard CC athletic department, Foley also serves as the co-chair of the Howard Community College Diversity Week Committee, a week-long series of events that encourages conversation and increases awareness of the unique talents and contributions of all people in the global community.

Under Foley's administration, the Howard Community College athletics department has had surge of unprecedented success and continues to grow in prestige. Foley will continue to serve as the athletic director at Howard CC while adding on the responsibilities of working with the NJCAA EDI council.
