Cinotti Brace Leads Howard Past Frederick 4-0

Frederick, MD – The #5 ranked Howard Community College Dragons took control of a one-sided affair as they defeated the Frederick Cougars 4-0.

The Dragons got out to a soaring start as the sophomore star Madalyn Nichols (Mt. Airy, MD/Glenelg) ran down a great through ball from freshman Yassine Kamara (Hyattsville, MD/Parkdale) as she slotted into the bottom corner. It took just 60 more seconds to double the lead as Madison Dzubak (Highland, MD/River Hill) took a tight angle shot that was deflected by the Frederick goalkeeper right into the path of Tessa Cinotti (Laurel, MD/Reservoir) who tapped into an open net.

Going into the second half, the Dragons continued to keep the Cougars pinned in their own half. The game opened up as Kayla Hatmaker (Woodbine, MD/Century) played a gorgeous through ball for Nichols who slid a pass over to Cinotti for her second goal of the game. Rebecca Herriotts (Glenwood, MD/Mt. Airy Christian) continued her strong start to the season as her cross was helped along by Hatmaker to a wide open Juliana Hill (Woodstock, MD/Seton) who scored her first collegiate goal.

A thoroughly dominating display by the defensive line led by Clara Janush (Laurel, MD/Reservoir), Josie Stubs (Dayton, MD/Glenelg), and Selia Jackson (Ellicott City, MD/Centennial) held Frederick to just one slow rolling shot all game that Hailey Murray (Catonsville, MD/Catonsville) easily handled for her second shutout of the season. Frederick suffered a slew of injuries throughout the contest and conceded the match after 75 minutes of play.

The Dragons will next travel to Hagerstown Community College on Thursday, April 15 for a 4 PM game.
