Hagerstown, MD - The Howard CC women's soccer team continued their domination in the early season as they shutout the Hagerstown Hawks 3-0 for their third straight shutout to start the season.
A sluggish first half for both teams saw a 0-0 score at halftime despite the Dragons pouring on 14 shots in the opening 45 minutes. Howard came out of the intermission a different team with
Madalyn Nichols (Mt. Airy, MD/Glenelg) setting up
Kayla Hatmaker (Woodbine, MD/Century) for her first goal of the season.Â
That first goal opened the game up as Nichols doubled the Howard lead just three minutes later on a
Tessa Cinotti (Laurel, MD/Reservoir) cross. Nichols would make it a brace 20 minutes later as she fired into the net for the fourth time this season.
The Howard defense was once again steadfast, allowing just three shots all game with All-American goalkeeper
Hailey Murray (Catonsville, MD/Catonsville) stopping both of the shots that were on goal. The Dragons went on to outshoot the Hawks 36-3 in the contest with Nichols accounting for 10 of those closely followed by
Tahlia Stangherlin (Hanover, MD/Pallotti) with six and
Jenna Naumann (Sykesville, MD/Century) with five.Â
The Dragons next contest will see them travel to the College of Southern Maryland for a 1 PM contest.
