Columbia, MD - A frantic match between the Howard CC Dragons and the Anne Arundel Riverhawks finished in a 1-1 tie after 110 minutes of play could not separate the two teams.
Anne Arundel struck first in the seventh minute of the game as a free kick into the box was headed in by the Riverhawks. The Dragons responded just a minute later as
Leonard Dunor (/Sheyenne) went flying past the Riverhawks defense and was taken down in the box.
Michael Fields (/Howard) placed the ball on the penalty spot and powered the shot into the top left corner of the net to tie the game.Â
From there, the game turned into a contest of physicality with the two sides laboring in the middle of the field for much of the contest. Dunor had several breakaway opportunities to end the game including one shot that went off the post, but ultimately neither team could find a way back onto the scoreboard.
Howard will next face a critical regional match as they host CCBC Catonsville on Tuesday, May 11 at 4 PM.
