Columbia, MD -
Tahlia Stangherlin (Hanover, MD/Pallotti) scored four goals to lead the #3 ranked Dragons in a 9-0 rout over Anne Arundel to complete their regular season with a perfect 7-0 record headed to the postseason.
Stangherlin scored just two minutes into the game on an assist by
Lillian Scott (Catonsville, MD/Catonsville); one of three assists in the game for the playmaking forward. That opened the flood gates as
Madalyn Nichols (Mt. Airy, MD/Glenelg) would go on to score a couple goals with Scott adding one in the first half.
Juliana Hill (Woodstock, MD/Seton) continued to add a scoring boost to the Howard front line with her third goal in two games and
Tessa Cinotti (Laurel, MD/Reservoir) marked her return to the Dragons line up with a late second half goal.
Goalkeeper
Hailey Murray (Catonsville, MD/Catonsville) made a fantastic save late in the game to preserve her fifth shutout of the season as the Dragons once again dominated play, outshooting their opponents 49-3.
Howard will now get set to host the semifinals of the Region 20 tournament with Potomac State set to travel to the Dragons Lair on Thursday, May 13 at 4 PM. The Dragons defeated Potomac State on the road 3-0 in the regular season opener on April 8.
