Game Recap: Women's Soccer | | Mark Winkel

Essex Shocks Dragons 4-2

Columbia, MD - The #14 ranked CCBC Essex Knights scored three goals in the first 15 minutes of the game to stun the #12 ranked Dragons on the way to a 4-2 result.

The Knights were led by their star forward Kara Dietrich, who finished the game with three goals and an assist, all in the first 30 minutes of the game.

The Dragons were able to pull one back in the 23rd minute when a long Sofie Jobst (Fulton, MD/Reservoir) free kick found a way to get to Molly Nichols (Mt. Airy, MD/Glenelg) in the box who tapped it home from close range.

Jobst would go on to score one herself in the 83rd minute as a consolation goal for a Dragons team that was unable to recover from the early game struggles. 

Howard will look to rebound in the Dragon Invitational as they host four games over two days with the Dragons taking on Brookdale on Saturday, September 18 at 1 PM.
