Catonsville, MD - Two second half goals by the Cardinals completed a comeback to take down the Dragons 2-1.
The Dragons got out to a scorching start as they peppered the Catonsville side with shots early on. The breakthrough came in the 24th minute as
Emmanuel Pope (Columbia, MD/Hammond) scored his second goal of the season on a
Josue Sorto-Ramos (Hyattsville, MD/Northwestern) assist. The Dragons continued to dominate the first half and went into the intermission with a 1-0 lead and commanding possession of the game.
CCBC Catonsville caught the Dragons off guard to start the second half as they scored two goals on their first two shots of the second half in the 48th and 51st minutes. Things only got harder for Howard as Sorto-Ramos picked up a second yellow card in the 60th minute, putting the Dragons down to 10 men for the remainder of the game.Â
Howard continued to press forward looking for the tying goal and came close several times including a shot by
Dylan Portillo (Bladensburg, MD/Bladensburg) that was saved by the Cardinals goalkeeper.Â
The Dragons fall to 2-1 and will look to rebound at home against Allegany on Tuesday, September 7 and 4 PM.
