Columbia, MD -
Tahlia Stangherlin (Hamilton, Ontario/Pallotti) scored two goals and assisted on two others as the Dragons rolled past the Potomac State Catamounts 7-0.
Stangherlin was too much to handle for the Catamounts, a fact that became apparent in just the fourth minute of the game as she picked up the ball in the middle of the field and ran straight through the middle of the Potomac State Defense to score in the bottom left corner. Stangherlin would double the Dragons lead in the 22nd minute as Amy Rodriguez played through a perfectly weighted pass to Stangherlin who again ran through the middle of the Catamounts defense to score again.
After scoring a couple, Stangherling switched gears to provider as her left footed cross to the back post set up
Remi Rollins (Columbia, MD/Oakland Mills) to score on a smart shot into the far side netting just a minute after the Dragons second goal.
Howard would take the 3-0 lead into halftime, but get back to their scoring ways early in the second half as
Lillian Scott (Catonsville, MD/Catonsville) latched onto a Stangherlin cross to make it four for the home team. A through ball by
Molly Nichols (Mt. Airy, MD/Glenelg) would set off a Scott run as her cross to the back post found Rollins who again hit a beautiful shot, this time finding the top shelf of the net.
Tessa Cinotti (Laurel, MD/Reservoir) again showed off her patented tough style of play and was rewarded with two late goals in the game on effort alone as the Dragons took another comfortable win at home.
Howard will get back at it on Tuesday, September 28 at 4 PM when the Hagerstown Hawks come to the Dragons Lair.
