Boin Brace Saves 2-2 Tie at Frederick

Frederick, MDCasey Boin (Ellicott City, MD/Mount De Sales) scored two goals to bring the Dragons back against the Frederick Cougars in a 2-2 double overtime tie.

Howard out shot Frederick 8-3 in the first half as the Dragons controlled the majority of possession, but it was the Cougars that scored first on a fast break goal. The Dragons evened it up at the 30 minute mark as a cross by Molly Nichols (Mt. Airy, MD/Glenelg) found Boin on the back post as she hammered it home.

Frederick took the lead back in the 50th minute on a free kick that went over the head of goalkeeper Giselle Castillo (Falls Church, VA/Justice) who filled in for the injured Olivia Jackson (Ellicott City, MD/Centennial).

With time ticking down, Boin was set free on the left flank and saw her long shot slip past the Frederick goalkeeper and in to tie the game.

The contest went the distance through double overtime, but ended in controversial fashion as a fast break by Boin was handled outside of the box by the Cougars goalkeeper. The referee chose to not give a card on the play, forcing Howard to rush a final shot that was blocked away to end the game.

Howard will continue their week of difficult week of road games as they head to the College of Southern Maryland on Thursday, October 13 at 2 PM
