Kinston, NC - The Dragons went south to North Carolina and were able to split a tri-match against two unfamiliar foes with a five set thriller over Lenoir and a four set defeat against USC Lancaster.
In the series opener, it was the three headed monster of
Morgan Conner (Sandy Spring, MD/Sherwood),
Jessica Hendricks (Woodbine, MD/Covenant Life), and
Brenna Siperko (Ellicott City, MD/Mt. Hebron) that fueled the Dragons forward as the trio combined to hit for 39 kills.Â
Howard won a close first set before dropping sets two and three as they struggled with consistency. Thankfully it all came together again as they pulled out a close set four and a closer set five to take the match.
In game two, the Dragons were able to take set one against a strong USC Lancaster squad, but could not prevail in any other set as they fell 3-1.
Siperko had 10 kills and six blocks while
Taylor Hall (Annapolis, MD/Howard) picked up 20 digs.Â
The Dragons will return home for their final two games of the regular season beginning with Harford on Wednesday, October 12 at 6 PM.
