Howard Flummoxes Southern Maryland 102-68

Columbia, MD - The Dragons closed out the regular season in high flying fashion as they crushed the visiting College of Southern Maryland Hawks 102-68 on sophomore night for the Howard Community College men's basketball team.

Daeshawn Eaton (Columbia, MD/Oakland Mills) came out of the gates on fire as he scored 17 of his game high 25 points in the first half. Taking a 52-29 lead into halftime, the Dragons never let up as they dominated the court from start to finish with five different players reaching double-digit points and nine players recording at least one assist.

David Garey (Gaithersburg, MD/Hargrave Military) scored 19 points including four from long range while Hollique Johnson (Millersville, MD/Old Mill) had his way in the paint with 15 points on 7-9 shooting from the floor. Cole Harshman (Baltimore, MD/Dulaney) enjoyed his sophomore night with 11 points and seven rebounds as did Joel Webb (Forrestville, MD/Dr. Henry A. Wise) with 10 points and nine rebounds as well as three blocks. Koby Baptiste (New Carrollton, MD/Parkdale) continues to increase his influence in games all over the court with eight points, six rebounds, five assists, and five steals. 

Before the start of the contest, the Dragons honored their eight graduating sophomores in this year's class including Eaton, Garey, Johnson, Harshman, Webb, Kevin Yomba (Silver Spring, MD/Paint Branch), Ardie Dorsey III (Capitol Heights, MD/Largo) and DJ Tucker (Ellicott City, MD/Marriotts Ridge).

The Dragons will now wait for results over the weekend to determine which team will come to Howard Community College for the Region 20 D2 quarterfinal game which will take place on Tuesday, March 1 at 7 PM.
