Myrtle Beach, SC - A powerhouse Danville Area softball team held the Dragons in check, sweeping Howard in a double header 11-0 and 9-1.
The Dragon bats only managed a single hit in game one as the Danville ace racked up nine strikeouts in four innings.
Samantha Hobert (Elkridge, MD/Howard)Â prevented the no-hitter while also taking the loss on the mound with a couple of strikeouts to her record.
Howard had a bit more luck in game two as the Dragons got on the scoreboard in the second inning as
Sarah Phelps (Ellicott City, MD/Centennial) was driven in by
Danielle Thompson (Frederick, MD/Tuscarora) in the second inning. Despite having other chances with runners in scoring position, Howard was held to the lone run.
Erika Goodwin (Laurel, MD/Hammond) grinded her way through four innings on the mound, but took her first loss of the season.
The Dragons will get one more crack at Danville on Monday, February 28 at 10 AM before finishing out the Fastpitch Dreams Spring Classic against Schoolcraft College at 2 PM.
