Dragons Complete Myrtle Beach Tournament With Strong Showing

Myrtle Beach, SC - The Dragons completed the Fastpitch Dreams Spring Classis with a couple of tough losses against two of the premier NJCAA teams in the country.

Game one of the day saw the Dragons compete against Danville Area CC for the third straight game, losing 8-1 in the final game of the series. Samantha Hobert (Elkridge, MD/Howard) threw the complete game, containing the Jaguars to just four earned runs as three Howard errors created problems for the Dragons. Grace Tolle (Woodstock, MD/Marriotts Ridge) was able to knock in Katelyn Burdette (Frederick, MD/Walkersville) with an RBI double in the first inning to take the early lead whle Sarah Phelps (Ellicott City, MD/Centennial) was also able to earn a double but was left stranded.

Howard went up against the Schoolcraft College Ocelots in the final game of the tournament and lost a tight one 5-2.

Hobert once again went the distance, earning seven strikeouts in the contest in a strong performance for the Howard ace. Sage Huber (West Friendship, MD/Glenelg) went 2-4 in the game with a run scored and a stolen base while Phelps scored on a wild pitch in the second inning thanks to a stolen base to get her into scoring position.

The Dragons will return to Maryland and prepare for the program's first ever home game when Cayuga comes to town on Saturday, March 5 at 12 PM.
