Catamounts Power Past Dragons

Keyser, WV - In their first of two doubleheader series planned for the season, the Potomac State Catamounts were able to get the better of Howard on their home field by the scores of 9-1 and 12-1.

In game one of series, Howard got out to the early lead when Sarah Phelps (Ellicott City, MD/Centennial) started the top of the third with a line drive single then would later score with Katelyn Burdette (Frederick, MD/Walkersville) driving Phelps in. Potomac State would answer back with three runs in the third, four in the fourth, and two more in the sixth to end the game in six innings. Phelps finished the game 2-2 while Brittney Dix (Elkridge, MD/Long Reach) and Samantha Hobert (Elkridge, MD/Howard) added a hit with Hobert striking out seven in a solid pitching performance.

Game two saw the Catamounts jump out to a 12-0 lead before Hobert drove in Danielle Thompson (Frederick, MD/Tuscarora) in the fourth inning to get Howard on the board, but that would end up being the only run the Dragons could score in the game. Phelps and Dix each added another hit on the day with Grace Tolle (Woodstock, MD/Marriotts Ridge) also reaching base. Erika Goodwin (Laurel, MD/Hammond) finished out the game on the mound after Hobert started, going 1.2 innings and not allowing any runs.

The Dragons will look to rebound at Hagerstown on Wednesday, April 13 at 3 PM.
