Nassau, NY - Two late goals by
Mahmoud Mansour (Laurel, MD/Home School) led to an action packed 3-2 victory for the Dragons over DIII powerhouse Nassau to improve the Howard record to 3-0 on the year.
The Dragons took the lead 40 minutes into the contest at a
Leonard Dunor (/Sheyenne) cross to the back post found
Abdoul Camara (/High Point) to tap it in. Nassau would pull the goal back midway through the second half, but Mansour was able to curl a shot around the Lions' goalkeeper with Camara providing a perfectly weighted assist.
Nassau came right back at Howard to tie the game once again and nearly took the lead if not for a brilliant diving save from
Jessie Sanchez (/Laurel). In the 75th minute, the Dragons earned a corner kick that was taken by
Jason Fuentes (/Hammond) as his in-swinger went to the top of the 18-yard box where Mansour hit a picturesque volley into the top right corner to seal the win for the Dragons.
Howard will return home on Tuesday, August 30 where they will host Northern Virgirnia at 4 PM.
